CORE — Community Organisation & Roles Engine¶
CORE is where a co-op manages its own structure: who's a member, how the organisation is shaped into workgroups, and who holds which role. It replaces spreadsheets and static org charts with a living, visual map of the community.
Signing in¶
CORE uses W3DS ePassport — the same decentralized identity used across the ecosystem (ALVer, Tasker, and others). One identity, no separate password to manage per app.
The organogram¶
The heart of CORE is the organogram — a live map of your community.
- Graph view — an interactive, force-directed diagram. Workgroups appear as nodes, members orbit around the workgroups they belong to, and each member's role is shown as a colored ring. Zoom, pan, and drag nodes to explore.
- Cards view — the same information as a browsable list of cards, grouped by workgroup, better for scanning or on mobile.
Both views share one filter bar: filter by workgroup, by role, by membership type, search by name, or toggle whether to show inactive/unavailable members and aspirants (people still in the process of joining).
Communities, workgroups, and roles¶
- A community is the top-level organisation (e.g. a housing co-op or land project).
- A community is organized into workgroups — teams responsible for an area (e.g. Finance, Coordination, Interiors).
- Each workgroup has roles, and members are assigned to one or more roles within a workgroup.
- Members can also carry a membership type at the community level (e.g. resident, associate) independent of their workgroup roles.
- Availability can be tracked per member — mark yourself unavailable with an optional reason and date range, so the organogram reflects who's actually active right now.
Chat, built in¶
Every community and every workgroup automatically gets a linked group chat. Joining a workgroup adds you to its chat; leaving offers to remove you from it too — kept in sync automatically, no manual setup.
What members can do¶
From the profile menu:
- My profile — manage personal details and avatar.
- My workgroups — see and manage which workgroups you belong to, join or leave.
- My availability — set or clear your own availability status.
- My community — jump back to the organogram.
What admins can do¶
Community admins get an Admin section with tabs for:
- Community — name, branding (logo, color, font), description.
- Members — manage who belongs to the community, admin flags, aspirant status.
- Workgroups — create/edit workgroups and their roles, assign members.
- Availability — manage the list of availability types offered to members.
How it fits the ecosystem¶
CORE is meant to become the single source of truth for who's in the community and how it's organized. Other apps (like ALVer, which handles voting) sync against CORE's community and membership data via the shared W3DS identity network, instead of keeping their own separate copies.
